Carlos Bertonatti

Author: admin | Filed under: Artist on MySpace, Music Artists

Carlos Bertonatti is a kind of man you would take home and introduce to your mama and I swear even your mama would love him to move in with you pronto!

Who could resist that ever charming smile that never fails to light up a room anyway? And that’s not hearing him sing yet. Wait ‘til you’re crooned by Carlos and you would know what love should really mean. This young man has a talent that can put many male singers to shame!

His songs truly have touched many hearts. His forte lies in pop, acoustic and hiphop. Carlos loves to write songs and sing them too. He was born in Venezuela and was raised in Miami where he still resides up to this day. He also loves skiing which lands him to the Argentine Ski Team. And, ladies, hear this, he loves to cook! A great voice to match that handsome face combined with excellent cooking skills, if this is not a good catch then I don’t know what is!

His humble roots had taught him to keep his feet firmly on the ground. Even after coming up with an album under producer Chris Rodriguez, Carlos was never seen bragging, instead he invested his time soft-promoting his album in MySpace. This only made him more popular than ever as his songs was received well by fans across the globe. Currently he is signed under Sony ATV publishing and Epic Records.

miamiarts

Miami is almost always associated with two things alone; one being entertainment and the other as arts. These two being relatively entwined in some way make it more interesting than ever.

Whether it’s high fashion or modern art; art deco or Art Nouveau, Miami surely has place for everyone and everything in its own place. Art itself is a vast word with so much meaning since art is in the eye of the beholder; one can consider a particular thing to be a work of art while others can view it in a different perspective. Art is an emotional gap waiting to be filled and Miami can bring art to a different level in just a snap. If it’s art you are craving for then Miami is your place to be.

Miami is haven for performing arts, theaters, and museums of different eras. People from neighboring cities flock Miami to try their luck in the city’s arts business. Of course, let’s not forget the $225 million Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Miami which was once known for hosting the MTV awards. Miami also holds annual art events which attract celebrities from all over the globe. Truly, the city of Miami couldn’t get any better offering countless creative arts to sooth our thirst.

Although Miami arts are feeling the heat of economic recession that has been binding the world for about a year now in forms of cancelled shows, low ticket sales and reduced sponsorship, Miami Symphony Orchestra still stays hopeful for the future.

It seems that it’s all systems go for Miami Symphony Orchestra even if they were heavily criticized back then. The group is now gearing for expansion complete with recruitment of new board members, a targeted budget growth of about 50% within a year and numerous concert shows for the coming months. Even though the plan may seem too ambitious at the moment, Conductor Eduardo Marturet hopes to establish the group as the next Florida Philharmonic Orchestra—the last recognized ensemble to play for the state.

The good conductor believes that this is the right time for the group to expand their horizons and be more aggressive than they used to be since there are only two options for the group to choose from considering the economic hardship the art industry is currently facing:  it’s to conquer or vanish–obviously majority voted for the previous rather than the latter. He also admitted the fact that it may take years before they reach their goal of being on top.

Conductor Marturet is known for constantly tweaking and making changes for the group ever since he took over the job last 2006; by far, this is the largest change he did for the Miami Symphony Orchestra.

Could they be anymore ready for mainstream?

miamiartmuseum

The Miami Art Museum features homegrown talents at their finest until the month of October. “Recent Acquisitions” is the ongoing exhibit launched last March 13 this year which includes magnificent works of best-known, homegrown artists of contemporary art. This exhibit also marks Miami Art Museum’s two-year permanent collection including works of Catherine Sullivan, Hernan Bas, Cristina Lei Rodriguez, Loriel Beltran, Alonso Mateo, Martin Oppel, Michael Loveland and Maria Martinez-Canas. Other international contributing artists are Rachel Whiteread and Alexandre Arrechea along with others who made it to the important Miami event.

Among the highlights of the said event is Catherine Sullivan’s Organ Room, and Triangle of Need which the latter takes after Mel Brook’s History of the World. Contributing to the collection is the Florida-based Hernan Bas with his colorful acrylic-to-linen paintings and expressive sculpture done by Cristina Lei Rodriguez. Speaking of sculpture, another homegrown artist by the name of Loriel Beltran succeeded with creatively putting together paint, plywood and tree bark to create a masterpiece that is sure to surpass time. Another notable artwork is the massive collage made by Maria Martinez-Canas—the same artist who made the etched-glass commissioned at the Miami International Airport’s Concourse D, where the artwork stays permanently.

Miami Art Museum is expected to grow more in the years to come and marking its achievement is the new compound to be opened come 2012. Check them out regularly for discounts and promotions.

Murals by Carybé at Miami International Airport

Author: admin | Filed under: Miami Events

mural

If you happen to pass by the Miami International Airport, don’t be too amazed to see two gigantic, colorful murals greeting you; these murals are made by the famous Brazilian artist Carybe or Hector Julio Paride Bernabo in real life. Carybe was born in Argentina but was raised in Rio de Janeiro; it was only in 1950 when he moved to Salvador, Bahia that he became a Brazilian citizen.
These murals were the ones hanging on walls of JFK International Airport for near-half century in New York. After they were removed from the JFK, the murals went straight for restoration in the Bronx. It took the team of experts of about 9 months before the murals were finally forwarded and installed to the Miami International Airport South Terminal where they will stay permanently and will serve as their home for years to come. Officials said that this is something totally unplanned but absolutely welcomed addition to the airport. Unveiling of the murals is set on June 25, 2009.

Carybe is a famous Bahian artist–known for his paintings, murals and sculptures which play with different interesting textures and techniques representing rich culture of his roots and traditions known to Bahia, Brazil. These two murals that are yet to be unveiled on the said date are Rejoicing and Festivals of the Americas and The Discovery and Settlement of the West.
